I didn't think of myself as a writer until I walked 500 miles across Spain on the Camino de Santiago in 2009. Halfway through the hike, the narrator in my mind started to speak up, at times sounding like Forrest Gump and other times like Diane Lane in Under the Tuscan Sun. Eventually, that narrator sounded like me.
I got home, started a blog, and realized that the hike had changed how I wanted to live my life. So I walked another 500 miles across Spain in 2017. And then another 200 through Portugal in 2019. And then one more in 2021.
Over the past decade years, I've built a series of resources to mentor and encourage prospective pilgrims on the Camino. You can check out my blog, my Dear Pilgrim Instagram community, and published essays on the topic. There is a much larger piece in the work that encompasses these projects, and I look forward to updating you on it soon.
